Facebook: the verdict
By Phil ~ December 13th, 2008. Filed under: Facebook.
I did try to get on with using Facebook advertising for the Take Me Dating website but after days of adjusting my spend level to something near affordable I bit the bullet and put it at 40c a click. For three days I was only getting around twelve clicks a day but that came at an astronomical cost.
Max Bid: 40c
Total impressions: 433,321
Total clicks: 152
Total cost: $57.17
So in English that works out at roughly £38.50 in less than two weeks and for that I didn’t get a single paid sign up, just a single free one. I knocked it on the head after that.
To sum up I think that Facebook is too expensive for someone with a small budget. For that kind of cost I would rather use Google Adwords because the conversion rate is far, far better.
In the six months that I was using Adwords for Take Me Dating it cost me just £7 and I got around 12 sign up’s from that:
Max Bid: 15p
Total impressions: 43,566
Total clicks: 46
Total cost: £7
Once I start to get financially better off I’ll start my Adwords back up again. Forget Facebook, it’s only for the rich or those with a massive budget.
