Trying to work out Facebook

For the past few days I’ve been trying to advertise Take Me Dating on .

In fact I tried to get it off the ground about three weeks ago but for some unknown reason FB didn’t like my bank account details although they had been registered a year previously for an ad campign with a shopping portal that I run. I say ‘run’ but I’ve lost interest in that because work is a pain in the arse at the moment. Recession, credit crunch. Call it what you will.

Anyway back to this FB campaign. I’m not too keen on working in dollars and can’t understand why can but can’t. I started it at $0.50 cents and had a bit of a shock when next morning the campaign had got 21,293 impressions, 13 clicks and one sale.

The problem was that one sale had cost me $4.82 Not too bad you might say but over the next three days when I received a further 81,000+ hits, only 20 clicks at a cost of $16 and no further sales then I started to worry.

That one sale was now starting to become worthless so I reduced my bid to $0.30 and then down to $0.10

The effect was probably a bit drastic because for the next two days I didn’t get a single hit and a red panel appeared at the top of my management page telling me that I was bidding too low and to raise it to at least $0.23 cents.

I did that but the hit count, although it did rise again, was nothing like previous levels. 777 one day and only 371 the next without a single click through.

Back up it went again and this time to a more realistic level of $0.30 cents. Hooray! the hits are now back on track at 16,117 and I’ve already had 4 clicks tonight.

Will I get any sales though?
